Jiayang Ling is a second-year international student currently pursuing her MSW degree in Health and Mental Well-Being at UCLA Luskin. Her academic journey began with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on cultural studies and sociology. Throughout her undergraduate years, she actively participated in peer counseling, emotional support initiatives, spiritual healing, and mindfulness-based activities. Despite being a non-believer, her worldview and life philosophy are rooted in Buddhism. Beyond her academic pursuits, she finds joy in the act of creation, whether it's crafting a poem or designing a poster. She has a keen appreciation for beauty in all its forms. Guided by the motto 'all things bright and beautiful,' She is dedicated to creating a life that is both free and beautiful, unbounded by preconceptions and societal norms.

What does wellness mean to you? For me, wellness signifies a state of inner peace and tranquility rooted in acceptance. Embracing life's uncertainties, appreciating both my past and present—regardless of their nature—and cultivating the confidence to confront my authentic self and openly share that authenticity with the world.

How do you define resilience? Resilience is a muscle refined through trials and errors to reach a delicate balance between strength and flexibility. It embodies profound faith that we always have choices, even in the deepest darkness, and trust in ourselves to craft the most promising future.
