Jasmine (“Jas”) Tilghman, Ph.D.

Dr. Jasmine (“Jas”) Tilghman has been a Licensed Counseling Psychologist in California since 2016 and has been working with the college population in the UC system since 2015. She started as a Postdoctoral Resident at UCSD CAPS and transitioned from UCI Counseling Center as a Senior Staff Psychologist. She is currently the Assistant Director of Mental Health Training, Intervention, & Response for Residential Life and RISE at UCLA. Her specialty areas include working with performers (i.e., musicians, actors, dancers, athletes, CEO executives, large companies, and organizations), race-related stress, hardiness, growth-mindset, anxiety, depression, mindfulness, adjustment, relationships, communication, and values.
Dr. Jas is also a Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT-200) and truly believes in the holistic approach to wellness with mind/body connection. Further, Dr. Jas is the author of “Entertainers Managing Stress Through EnterTraining,” with EnterTraining being a term she coined to mean self-soothing. Her private practice, True To You Psychotherapy & Consulting, Inc., is based in Southern California and allows her to incorporate and practice all she has learned.
Favorite self-care practice: Listening to my favorite playlist (with lots of bass) while doing hot yoga.
Fun fact: I have recorded some original music as I love to sing and song write as a creative outlet.
What does wellness mean to you?
Wellness is a mindset and value that takes consistent priority and practice and encompasses both mind and body.
How would you define resilience?
Being able to bounce back from unexpected stressful life events and grow from those experiences.
